A couple identified as Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus has climbed the Empire State Building without authorization. The stunt was captured on social media and has prompted a security investigation. This incident highlights vulnerabilities in the building’s security protocols and raises concerns about public safety.
According to reports, the couple ascended the Empire State Building late Tuesday night, using climbing gear to reach the iconic observation deck. The climb was documented in videos posted on social media platforms, where the pair can be seen scaling the exterior of the building without official permission.
Authorities confirmed they are investigating the incident and are working to identify the climbers. The NYPD and building security teams are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence to determine how the couple bypassed security measures. No injuries or damage have been reported so far.
The climbers, known for similar stunts on other landmarks, have previously gained notoriety online, but this marks the first time they have scaled the Empire State Building. Their motives remain unclear, and there has been no claim of responsibility or statement from the climbers.
This incident underscores potential vulnerabilities in the security protocols of one of New York City’s most famous landmarks. If unauthorized individuals can scale the building, it raises questions about the effectiveness of current surveillance and physical barriers. The stunt also prompts broader discussions about public safety, the risks of such climbs, and the need for enhanced protective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Their previous stunts include scaling the Shanghai Tower and other tall structures, drawing significant online attention. The Empire State Building, with its high-profile security, was considered a difficult target, making this incident notable.
Historically, unauthorized climbs of landmarks have led to increased security measures, but this event suggests gaps remain. The NYPD and building management have faced similar incidents in the past, prompting periodic security upgrades. However, the recent climb indicates that determined individuals may still find ways to bypass physical and technological barriers.
